SERENE YET LIVELY RECITAL

The Duo de Salzburg regaled an overflowing India International Centre Auditorium last week with a superb concert
"Yvonne Timoianu, the brilliant cellist from Salzburg, is no stranger to Delhi. She gave a widely-acclaimed solo recital in the city seven years ago.... Now teamed up with pianist Alexander Preda, the two, internationally known as the Duo de Salzburg...regaled an overflowing India International Centre Auditorium with a superb concert featuring works by Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert.
The concert....was part of the Independence golden Jubilee celebrations and commemoration of the centenary of Brahms's death and the bicentennial of Schubert's birth.
The Duo de Salzburg opened with Brahms's Sonata in E minor.....Yvonne has an exquisite touch, sensitive yet firm, enabling her to retain total control over the instrument.....Alexander, a visionary exponent of the keyboard, proved to be an excellent partner. Schubert's Sonata in A minor "Arpeggione", lyrical, serene yet lively, found the experienced Duo in firm command. They presented a relaxed introductory canvas and then proceeded to embellish it with Schubert's vision of beauty. It was a display of great finesse and precision.
Brahms's Sonata in F major played after the interval......is a composition of great power.....It was a masterly performance!"....
